Choosing Your Artificial Christmas Tree

YOUR GUIDE TO FINDING THE PERFECT TREE

Christmas trees are a centerpoint of Christmas spirit in the home. Many of the most memorable experiences we associate with Christmas revolve around the tree. This is why it's so important to select the tree that fits your home and lasts year after year to develop a lifetime of memories. We put together a guide to help you select the perfect tree for your family.

To determine what artificial Christmas tree is right for you, we determined that there are four main factors you will want to consider: Height, Width, Branch Type, and Lighting.

What Height Should My Tree Be?

When selecting a tree to fill a space in your home, height matters. You will typically want to leave around 6" of space between the top of your tree and the ceiling. This includes your tree topper so be sure to know its height. Let's take a look at your space and determine what height you need.

UNDER 6 FEET

For small spaces, low traffic rooms (like bedrooms), and raised surfaces

6 TO 6.5 FEET

For areas with low ceiling clearance

7 TO 7.5 FEET

Typically best for standard 8 to 9 foot ceilings

8 TO 9 FEET

Typically best for 9 to 11 foot ceilings

10 TO 14 FEET

Perfect for vaulted ceilings and open spaces

OVER 14 FEET

What Size Tree Should I Get?

You'll want to consider the width of your Christmas tree next. The shape of your tree will determine its place in your space. If your space is open with plenty of surrounding room, it would be best to fit a wider tree in that space. Alternatively, if you're attemping to put your tree in an apartment, you may want to go with a slim tree.

Measure the amount of surface area you would like to take up within your space. We suggest putting down masking tape on the floor to provide a visual. This measurement is personal preference. You know your space best and understand how you want it to feel, so trust your gut! Once you have your measurement, you can start comparing tree options.

The measurements on our products display the widest point of the trees so you know exactly how much room they will take up in your space! We offer four widths on our trees: Slim, Medium, Full, and Deluxe!

SLIM

Compact trees designed for tight spaces. Sometimes used in pairs to frame doorways and other areas.

MEDIUM

Not slim, not full. A perfect in between for those who need it.

FULL

The standard width of most of our trees. Full trees are nearest in similarity to a real Christmas tree shape.

DELUXE

Trees meant to take up space. The Deluxe width is ideal for open spaces and larger areas. Deluxe trees also have the highest surface area for the ornament collectors out there.

Which Kind of Branches Do I Want?

Now that you've figured out the amount of space you want to fill with your tree, you can move on to the fun stuff. You get to choose how you want your tree to look.

The feel of your tree starts with the branches you select. There are four main categories when it comes to branch type: Traditional, Frosted, Flocked, and Sparse.

TRADITIONAL

Your classic Christmas tree look. Traditional trees are available in many varieties made to mimic real trees of their kind. From the dense branches and deep blue hues of the Augusta Blue Spruce to the sun-kissed tips of the Carolina Fraser Fir, there are traditional trees to match the exact feel you would like from a Christmas classic.

FROSTED

Do you want a little sparkle in your space? You may want a frosted tree. Frosted artificial Christmas tree branches display a light dusting of artificial snow and a glittery sparkle.

FLOCKED

Want a tree that feels dressed up without a bunch of ornaments and decorations? Crafted to mimic real snow covered tree tops, flocked trees provide just that. Their snow covered branches make you feel like you're in a snow covered forest within the warmth of your home or space. Although compatible with ornaments and decorations, these trees speak for themselves with their realistic and dimensional look.

SPARSE

For ornament collectors and minimalists alike. Sparse trees have well spaced branches and less dense needles providing ample space for all of your decorations and ornaments. Sparse trees also have the ability to maintain an open feel for your space due to their lower needle counts and branch spacing.

What Lights Are Best?

Once your ideal height and weight have been measured, and you've decided on the type of tree you'd like, you can finish it off with lighting. You will want to decide if you want a pre-lit tree or an unlit tree which allows you to handle lighting on your end. Unlit trees allow more control over the types and number of lights you add. On the other hand, many people enjoy the ease of pre-lit trees which removes the need to hand wrap your light strands on your tree.

When choosing a pre-lit artificial Christmas tree, you generally will have a few different options to choose from depending on the style of tree you're interested in.

INCANDESCENT

Incandescent lighting provides a softer lighting and comes on pre-lit trees in Clear (white) and Multicolor. Our incandescent lights use SmartLit technology that prevents (insert the industry term here) which increases the life of your lights and removes the need for whole strand light replacement.

LED LIGHTING

LED lighting shines much brighter than the incandescent bulbs and provides much richer coloring in the multicolor bulbs. Our pre-lit trees with LED lighting are available in LED Warm White and LED Color Change which allows you to switch between Warm White and Multicolor via a ground foot pedal and hand-held remote.

G40 BULBS

G40 Bulbs are a decorative bulb that are spherical in shape and typically a larger size than the standard string lights. Our pre-lit trees have both incandescent lights alongside G40 bulbs which use incandescent lighting in Warm White.
