Frequently Asked Questions

& Open Ride Times

IS IT A REAL TRAIN?

The Sullivan Express is an excursion train that runs on tires and travels 5 miles an hour. It has an engine and 4 passenger cars that carry adults and children.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN FIT IN A CAR?

Each family ticket reserves a passenger car on the train. 4 adults or the equivalent fit in a car. For example, if the children can sit on parents’ laps, there will be room for an extra adult or two.

HOW MANY RESERVATIONS SHOULD I MAKE?

For the Sullivan Santa Express & The Bullet Express Train
One ticket includes space in one passenger car on the train and one visit with Santa-so each individual family will need a reservation. If you have a ticket for the Sullivan Santa Express, any additional relatives or friends who can’t fit in the car may walk to the North Pole to see the family visit with Santa at no charge.
The Bullet Express Train doesn’t stop at the North Pole, so one ticket includes space in one passenger car on the train.

HOW LONG IS THE RIDE?

The train ride itself is 7 minutes going to and 8 minutes returning from the North Pole.
If you’ve purchased tickets for the Sullivan Santa Express, your stay at the North Pole will be 15 minutes long. The whole experience averages about 30 minutes.

DOES THE TRAIN RUN WHEN IT IS RAINING OR SNOWING?

The train runs despite the weather. The cars have roofs and open windows that are fitted with clear poly windows on rainy days. Please dress for the conditions.

P.S. The North Pole is in a heated building!

CAN I CHANGE MY RESERVATION TIME?

Yes, first go to sullivanexpress.com and book your preferred time. Then email events@sullivanhardware.com and request a refund for the day and time that you no longer want. The refund will be processed within 48 hours of your request.

I DID NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL.

An email is automatically sent upon the completion of each transaction. If you did not receive one, please check your spam folder. If it is not there, send your info to events@sullivanhardware.com and you will receive a prompt reply.

ARE THERE TRAIN RIDES WHEN SANTA IS NOT AT THE NORTH POLE?

There are “Open Rides” when Santa is not at the North Pole. The cost is $5 per person (maximum $20 per individual family). No reservations are needed. First come, first to board. Pay at Central Station when you arrive. See the “Open Rides” times in the Sullivan Express Calendar at the bottom of the page.

The Bullet Train is another great way to ride the train without stopping to meet Santa at his workshop. This ride is by reservation only and tickets are available for purchase online
